About

The Commercial and Corporate Law Centre (CCLC) is established to provide a dedicated platform for research and scholarly exchange in commercial and corporate law. It brings together expertise across related fields, promotes interdisciplinary and international collaboration, and facilitates engagement with legal practice and the wider business and professional community.

The Centre aims to:

  • Promote high-quality research in commercial and corporate law and related fields;
  • Foster a strong and active research culture through regular seminars, workshops, conferences and other academic activities in commercial and corporate law broadly defined;
  • Promote international engagement and collaboration by inviting leading scholars and practitioners from the UK and overseas to contribute to the Centre’s academic activities;
  • Develop multidisciplinary research projects and secure external research funding, including through collaboration across disciplines and institutions;
  • Contribute to research-led teaching by supporting the integration of current research, scholarship and academic debate into teaching and student learning;
  • Strengthen engagement with relevant professional and business communities through academic activities, collaborative research and knowledge exchange; and
  • Support the dissemination and wider impact of research through publications, academic events, professional engagement and other appropriate channels.

CCLC members’ expertise covers a broad range of areas in commercial and corporate law, including corporate law and governance; corporate social responsibility and sustainability; insolvency and restructuring; banking and financial regulation; artificial intelligence, FinTech and digital assets; commercial law and arbitration; international trade law; maritime law; and data protection and privacy.

CCLC has three affiliated research groups, reflecting the breadth of the Centre’s research interests and providing additional opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange. The affiliated groups are the London Universities Maritime Law and Policy Research Group, the Research Group in Global Corporate Law and the Digital Trade Research Group.
