Quantum Science & Technology Research Group
Welcome to the Quantum Science & Technology Research Group
We are the Quantum Science & Technology Research Group within the School of Science & Technology at City St George's, University of London.
Our group brings together expertise from mathematics, engineering, physics, computing and health sciences to advance research in quantum science and technology. We investigate both the fundamental principles of quantum systems and their practical applications, creating opportunities for innovation across industry, healthcare and society.
Through research, education and collaboration, we aim to contribute to the development of next-generation quantum technologies while supporting students, researchers and industry partners in building quantum capability.

Our Vision
The group's objectives are to advance foundational quantum science by supporting research in quantum information, quantum field theory, many-body quantum systems, quantum materials, open quantum systems, quantum algorithms and the mathematical structures underlying quantum physics. The group seeks to establish a vibrant internal quantum community and position City St George's as a central London hub for quantum research, industrial engagement and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Our Motivation
The group aims to provide bridging modules that educate advanced UG and PG students in Mathematical and Quantum methods that underlie this area of research, in alignment with our President's vision for bringing teaching to the forefront of research.
We develop engineering-driven quantum technologies, including quantum sensing, signal processing, device modelling, optimisation of quantum hardware operations and quantum-enabled engineering applications. We also integrate Quantum Machine Learning (QML) with engineering and health research, developing hybrid quantum-classical models for diagnostics, imaging, optimisation, anomaly detection and complex data analysis.
Our Partners
We collaborate closely with the City St George's AI Centre to drive innovation in quantum-enhanced AI, co-develop new QML techniques and pursue joint translational projects relevant to industry and healthcare.
The group serves as a platform for attracting major external funding, coordinating competitive applications to UKRI, EPSRC Quantum Hubs, Innovate UK, and National Quantum Computing Centre programmes. We also host a regular Quantum Science Seminar Series featuring internal and external speakers covering theoretical, computational, engineering, industrial and biomedical aspects of quantum research, and organise workshops, symposiums and international conferences.
