Cardiovascular and Genomics Research Institute

About the institute

The aim of the Institute is to deliver impactful research in clinical and basic sciences with a heavy emphasis on translation to benefit the patient and their family, preventing cardiovascular disease and its sequelae.

Principal investigators have internationally respected and recognised expertise in cardiovascular and lymphovascular genomics, sports cardiology, cardiac pathology, vascular biology and surgery, cellular and small animal modelling focusing on the development of novel therapeutics, and diagnostics and risk stratification, in particular for sudden cardiac death.

We have strong links with the clinical services in St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where much of our translational research occurs, supporting a broad portfolio of clinical trials and studies.
