George: MBBS Curriculum map

George is the single point of truth for all curriculum information and accessible to students, teachers, assessors and regulators and it is a move away from endless and complex Excel spreadsheets.

This map is the home for learning objectives and core conditions for each year, with links to Canvas and a note-taking ability to aid students’ learning and revision and the one single place for academics to review the curriculum.

To keep George relevant and useful, we need to keep engaging with it, using it, directing staff and students to it for curriculum information and most importantly, keep it updated. Any changes to the curriculum such as updating learning objectives, names of sessions or lectures need to be reflected in George.

George also allows you to download any list relevant to your module. This feature is specifically useful for blueprinting assessments or incorporating the learning objectives to your lectures.

The map operates with Single Sign On for all SGUL accounts. Non SGUL users will also able to create an account and access the curriculum (i.e. those at Trust sites/guest lecturers). Please find a link to George below:

Guide to rating scales

The clinical curriculum lists the core conditions that students need to know for each placement and each year of study.

There are not learning outcomes for separate conditions but we do provide a rating scale to guide student learning-comprehensive, standard or principles

Please see below for more detail about what these ratings mean. All specialties except surgery, surgical specialties and obstetrics and gynaecology follow the first rating scale, with specific rating scales listed below the general one.

Ratings for T, P and F year

Surgery and surgical specialties T, P and F year

Obstetrics and Gynaecology for P and F year
