People

Who are we?

We are a group of academics based at City St George’s who work on migrant rights, migrant justice and border regimes. We work with migrant rights organisations and other organisations, logos listed below.

Alexandria Innes

Dr Alexandria Innes – Co Director

Dr Alexandria Innes is a Reader at the School of Policy & Global Affairs. She  specialises in the international politics of migration. Theoretically, her research is situated at the intersection of migration studies and critical security studies in International Relations.


Adrienne Yong

Dr Adrienne Yong – Co Director

Dr Adrienne Yong is a Reader in Law at The City Law School. Dr Yong's research interests are in EU citizenship, immigration law and human rights of marginalised groups from a intersectional feminist perspective.


Maya Goodfellow

Dr Maya Goodfellow – Deputy Director

Dr Maya Goodfellow is a Presidential Fellow in the Department of International Politics. Her current project examines the rise of private security companies in immigration enforcement in the UK. Beyond this, her work focuses on four intersecting areas of research: racial capitalism, immigration and bordering, the politics of international development and animal rights.


Jana Kriechbaum

Jana Kriechbaum – Research Assistant

Jana Kriechbaum is a research student at the Department of Sociology and Criminology. Jana specialises in qualitative research methodologies, such as contemporary grounded theory. Her research focus covers border processes and structural inequalities, social harm and immigration regimes, and gendered violence against women and girls.


Dr Hallam Tuck – Member

Dr Hallam Tuck is a Lecturer in Criminology. Within the field of Border Criminology, his research interests lie at the intersections of punishment, migration control, citizenship, and race.


Koen Slootmaeckers

Koen Slootmaeckers – Member

Koen Slootmaeckers is a Reader in International Politics at the Department of International Politics. He has a multidisciplinary background and combines insights from sociology and political science into his work. His award-winning research focusses on gender and sexuality politics in Europe and is particularly interested in analysing hierarchies within the international system.
