Get research funding
Resources about getting research funding
One of the main challenges in starting a project is finding funding for research, but there are organisations that can help through dedicated funding programmes.
The type of funding you target will depend on the level of research you are doing.
Advice and support
If you work in the NHS, your local Research & Development department can provide information about funding schemes for specific projects, as well as personal awards for doctoral and post-doctoral research. Other resources for funding advice and support include:
- The NIHR-supported Research Support Service (RSS) that can help you identify funding schemes that could be a good fit for your work.
- The UKRI guidance on funding applications
- In Wales the HCRW website faculty is a great resource for research funding support in Wales
- If you are applying for an NIHR award, the NIHR Academy offers development events and opportunities for budding researchers
- The NIHR clinical trials tool kit provides practical advice for researchers designing and conducting publicly funded clinical trials.
