ACCRG Webinar: Teamwork among healthcare professionals in critical care (the FEARLESS ICU study)

Speaker: Dr Andreas Xyrichis
Dr Xyrichis, PhD, is an intensive care nurse and Reader at King’s College London. His research centres on strengthening interprofessional, team-based approaches in healthcare, encompassing workforce preparation and training, and the development and evaluation of interprofessional interventions.
In his talk, Andreas will introduce the FEARLESS ICU study, which provides timely insight into ICU teamworking in a post-pandemic landscape. By identifying factors that hinder and support effective teamwork, it aims to offer practical guidance to strengthen collaboration, support staff wellbeing and retention, and improve patient outcomes within increasingly pressured ICU settings.

Speaker: Professor Heather Jarman
Prof Jarman is Director for Health and Care Professionals Research at St George’s, Epsom and St Helier Hospital Group (gesh) and Professor of Emergency Care in the Population Health Research Institute, School of Health and Medical Sciences.
This seminar provided an understanding of the emergency care research environment, explored the challenges and opportunities for conducting research in emergency settings, outlined priority topics in emergency care research and presented an overview of the work of the St George's Emergency Department Collaborative Research Group.

Speaker: Dr Jessie Cooper
In this talk Jessie Cooper will document her journey as a medical sociologist investigating the everyday ethics and practices of DCD in the UK, culminating in an RFPB grant to investigate delays in DCD. She will discuss the uniqueness of DCD as a deceased donor pathway, the construction of everyday ethics in DCD, and the practices of integrating DCD into end-of-life care in Intensive Care settings.
She will outline how she reached her current study focus and provide insight into the complex (and sometimes chaotic!) pathway to getting access to conduct ethnographic research around DCD in the NHS.
Shaping ICU Nurses' Future: How an ICU Nurse Envisions their Professional Role in 2030 (SHINE): A Delphi Study Protocol

Speaker: Dr Katerina Iliopoulou
"I have 25 years experience as a critical care nurse, during which I have developed a strong commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration and interprofessional teamwork in acute care settings. I am past Chair of the N&AHPs within the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine, and I am an active member of the European Implementation Collaborative.
"My research interests are centred on implementation science and behavioural strategies aimed at integrating evidence into practice, particularly concerning Infection Control and Prevention and Antimicrobial Stewardship. I focus on mixed-method methodologies, emphasising quantitative research through large-scale surveys, the development of psychometric scales, and the adoption of semi-structured interviews."

Dr Ede is a Clinical-academic Nurse Researcher from the Oxford Critical Care Unit, John Radcliffe Hospital & Honorary Senior Research Fellow at City St George’s.
In this event Dr Ede explored her contributions as a clinical academic nurse researcher within the critical care setting. By showcasing a selection of research and quality improvement projects undertaken over several years, Dr Ede highlighted key areas of interest and the research methodologies she frequently employs.
